Tools for maintenance:

We suggest using Le Tour Premium Chain Lube for lubricating all rear derailleurs. A drop on each pivot point, pulley wheel bushing and the frame hanger bolt, once a month or after a rain storm, will insure long life and smooth shifting. Always wipe off excess chain lube or accumulated dirt.
We also suggest getting the complete set of Park hex wrenches, Park HXS-2, with a holder. The holder stands alone or mounts easily to peg board or plywood. It prevents wrenches from getting lost and will help to keep your work area organized. The extra long handles are ideal for working on handlebar stems and cranks. The Park HXS-2 set contains 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm hex head wrenches.

Park Derailleur Alignment Gauge

The Park Derailleur Hanger Alignment Gauge, DAG-1, will help solve a multitude of index derailleur shifting problems.
This tool is easy to use. Simply thread it directly into the rear derailleur hanger.
The chrome bar holds a gauge which marks the distance to the wheel. Rotate the gauge with the wheel in the 6, 9, and 12 o' clock positions. Note any differences in measurements. Then you may align the derailleur hanger by applying pressure to the tool's arm. Results can be checked instantly.
Comes with two rubber o-rings for the round slider bar that can be used as markers when racks or fenders prevent full DAG-1 rotation.
The Park Derailleur Alignment Gauge, DAG-1, is made of heavy-gauge steel and is chrome plated for long shop life.

Frame and Fork Dropout Alignment Tools

Even new bicycles can come with frame and fork drop-outs are not parallel, creating bent axles or skewers, poor tracking and shifting problems.
The Park Frame and Fork Alignment Gauge Set, FFG-1, is designed to align the drop-outs easily without resorting to an expensive frame alignment table. They quickly show whether the drop-outs are parallel and produce plenty of leverage to straighten them.
The Park FFG-1 gauges adjust to compensate for various hub widths. A semi-circular, black caliper is included so you can easily check hub widths.

Frame and Fork Dropout Alignment Tools

Many bicycles will not shift or track properly because the front and rear wheels are not in line with the frame. The seat stays, chain stays, and frame's rear drop-outs may be mis aligned.
The Park Frame Alignment Gauge allows you to check your frame's alignment quickly and accurately using the rear dropout as a starting point. The retractable pointer fits all sizes and types of bicycles.
To use, simply adjust the pointer so it sits on the rear drop out and the top of the tool is resting on your frame's head tube. Then, as shown in the photo below, switch the tool to measure the other side of your frame. The red arrow, on the below picture, shows that this frame needs realigning. The tool's pointer is sitting about 2mm away from the right, rear dropout.

Park Frame and Fork Straightener

The Park Frame and Fork Straightener, FFS-1, is a versatile and productive tool.
The open hook design enables it to straighten not only frames and forks, but also steel and some alloy, cranks and handlebars. Vinyl coating on the hook and on the fulcrum pad protects painted surfaces. The hook has over 8" of adjustment. Reinforced to prevent flexing.
Caution! During any repair, safety should always come first. Please be advised that not all frames, forks, cranks or handlebars can be safely straightened. After re-alignment carefully inspect all frame members, cranks, forks, etc for cracks or kinked tubes. Steel frames are much easier to align than titanium ones. Carbon or aluminum frames cannot be safely realigned.

This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love.
