Park CRC-1 Fork Crown Race Cutter

Park CRC-1, Fork Crown Race Cutting Tool.

Park CRC-1 Tool

Park CRC-1 Fork Crown Race Cutter:
  • The Park CRC-1 Crown Race Cutter is a professional quality tool that is easy to use and will last a lifetime.
  • A poorly milled fork crown race seat will cause a headset to bind in one spot and be loose in another spot. Your headset will wear unevenly and fail prematurely.
  • The Park CRC-1 Crown Race Cutter precisely cuts a collar and seat for your headset's crown race into steel, aluminum, carbon or titanium forks.
  • It may be used with 1 inch and 1 1/8 inch headsets and forks. The Park CRC-1 perfectly mills fork crowns to fit 26.4 (Campagnolo, Shimano and most other 1 inch headset crown races), 27.0 (JIS standard for 1 inch headsets) and 30.0 which fits all 1 /8 inch headset crown races.
  • The black adjustable collet insures that the Park CRC-1 tool is perfectly centered on your fork column. Thus the resulting crown race seat and collar will also be perfectly centered as will your fork crown headset race.
  • We suggest using Kingsbridge premium cutting oil with all cutting tools. Use it liberally for cleanest cuts, ease of operation and maximum tool life.
  • Park cutters may be resharpened by a professional tool cutting service.
  • Visit our Tool Use Tips page 2 to read about Fork Crown Cutting Tips.
  • Proudly made in the USA by Park Tool.
  • Warranty service and help with technical questions is available from Park Tool in Saint Paul, Minnesota USA. Call Park Tool at (651) 777-6868, e-mail them at Info@ParkTool.com or visit them at ParkTool.com by clicking on the underlined text .

Park FTS-1 Fork Column Threading Set

Park FTS-1, Fork Column Threading Tool

Park FTS-1 Tool

Park FTS-1, Fork Column Threading Tool:
  • The Park FTS-1 Fork Column Threading tool is a professional quality tool that is easy to use and will last a lifetime.
  • The Park FTS-1 is designed for cutting new threads and for chasing or cleaning existing threads. It is compatible with 1 inch and 1 1/8 inch threaded fork columns.
  • You may use the Park FTS-1 to cut new threads into a threadless or smooth, fork column. The column must have a wall thickness of 1/8 inch or greater and the steel must be soft enough to easily file. Go slowly and back off your die frequently to make sure the threads are clean and even.
  • Do NOT use any thread cutting tool on the chromed portion of a fork. The cutting die will be ruined. Remove the chrome first or use another fork.
  • The Park FTS-1 comes with a die holder with handles and two 1 x 24 threads to the inch dies. The dies are used together; one die is for cutting new threads while the other is a guide.
  • The unique thread guide system used with the Park FTS-1 is specifically designed to allow metal chips and shavings that result during use, to fall through the guide, thus preventing damage to the fork threads and the cutting die.
  • You may also purchase separately 1 1/8 inch x 26 threads to the inch, new thread cutting dies and 1 1/8 inch x 26 threads to the inch, thread cleaning dies. All will fit the Park FTS-1 die holder pictured above.

Park SG-6 Tool

Park Fork Column Saw Guides:
  • Park makes two different types of saw guides for cutting fork columns. Both mount in a bench vise as pictured below and hold your fork securely while allowing you to make a perfect, straight cut.
  • The Park SG-1 and SG-2 are designed for threaded fork columns in 1 and 1 1/8 inches in diameter. The guides are threaded so when you remove the fork, the cut portion is automatically rethreaded.
  • The Park SG-6 is designed to hold 1, 1 1/8 and 1 1/4 inch threadless or smooth sided fork columns.
  • We suggest using a fine tooth hacksaw blade and Kingsbridge premium cutting oil for sawing steel, aluminum or titanium fork columns. After removing the fork from the guide we use a half round file to remove any burrs or lip that surrounds the fresh cut.
  • Visit our Tool Use Tips page 3 to read about Fork Column Cutting Tips.

Branford Bike Online Catalog - Archival Edition
brought to you by the former owner of Branford Bike, Tim Brockett via his personal web site, TimsLife.Com
This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Read the story here.

Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love. I hope you enjoy browsing through the archival catalog. If your visit brings back pleasant memories please share them with me via e-mail at timbrockett@gmail.com .

If you find any printed Branford Bike catalogs, advertisments or flyers please scan them as a PDF and email. Or you may mail them via US Post to Tim Brockett, PO Box 1711, Emigrant, MT 59027. Eventually I will post them in a Memorabilia catalog section.

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
Tim Brockett
