Park HW-2, 32 and 36 mm, Deluxe 8 point Headset Top Nut Wrench
Park HW-2 Tool

Tools for maintenance:
  • Campagnolo 1 inch threaded headsets require two 32 mm open end wrenches to loosen and tighten the upper race and top nut. Some riders will use an adjustable wrench on the top nut but those often slip and will round the nut. The Park HCW-12 or HCW-6 with the HW-2 8 point wrench is our choice to work on 1 inch threaded headsets. The HCW-12 can also be used for older style bottom bracket lock rings while the HCW-6 doubles as a handy 15 mm pedal wrench.
  • We suggest using Le Tour Whisper White grease and the Le Tour Grease Gun for lubricating Campagnolo headsets. Click on the underlined text to see both in our Bicycle Care catalog section.
  • Campagnolo Threadless and Hiddensets only require a set of hex or Allen wrenches for regular maintenance. The Park AWS-3 is ideal for the headset top cap. It fits most hands perfectly and is almost impossible to over tighten the cap with. It comes with a 4, 5 and 6 mm hex head wrench tips. For extra comfort the lower wrench tips are covered.
  • We suggest getting the complete set of Park hex wrenches, Park HXS-2, with a holder. The holder stands alone or mounts easily to peg board or plywood. It prevents wrenches from getting lost and will help to keep your work area organized. The extra long handles are ideal for working on handlebar stems and cranks. The Park HXS-2 set contains 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 mm hex head wrenches.

Headset Removal Tools
  • Headset cups are easily and safely removed with the Park RT-1, Headset Cup Remover tool. Modeled after the Campagnolo version, Park improved the remover by nickel plating it and widening it to fit 1 inch, 1 1/8 and 1 1/4 inch headsets.
  • Simply slide the remover into your head tube until the flanged base clicks once it clears the headset race. Hold a rag over the race to be removed and hit the tool with a 16 ounce hammer. After a few taps the race will pop out.
  • To remove an old fork crown race that will be discarded, you may use a punch and hammer. If you wish to re-use the race, then the Park CRP-1 is recommended.
  • The Park CRP-1 is a precision tool for quickly and easily removing the headset crown race from the crown race seat of the fork. Universal design works with 1-inch, 1-1/8 inch, 1-1/4 inch and 1.5-inch crown race/fork (suspension or rigid) combinations.
  • To use the Park CRP-1, simply turn the two, bottom mounted, small T-handles to press the thin-edged wedges under the crown race. Then turn the large, top mounted, Y-handle to completely pull the crown race from the fork. No more hammer and punch! All steel construction for long life.

Branford Bike Online Catalog - Archival Edition
brought to you by the former owner of Branford Bike, Tim Brockett via his personal web site, TimsLife.Com
This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Read the story here.

Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love. I hope you enjoy browsing through the archival catalog. If your visit brings back pleasant memories please share them with me via e-mail at timbrockett@gmail.com .

If you find any printed Branford Bike catalogs, advertisments or flyers please scan them as a PDF and email. Or you may mail them via US Post to Tim Brockett, PO Box 1711, Emigrant, MT 59027. Eventually I will post them in a Memorabilia catalog section.

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
Tim Brockett
