Park HTR-1 Tool

Park HTR-1 Head tube Reaming and Facing Tool
  • For longest life and smoothest operation headset cups must be perfectly parallel. The Park HTR-1 combines reaming and facing of the head tube to create a perfect, parallel fit for headset cups. The HTR-1 comes with with a 30.0 mm reamer for 1 inch headsets or a 33.8 mm for 1 1/8 inch headsets. Four different size pilots, (29.8mm, 30.0mm, 33.8mm, and 36.8mm) are included with either sized reamer and facer.
  • The optional Park 769 Head tube Reamer Extension extends the cutting depth of the reamers used in 1", 1-1/8" and 1-1/4" headset standards down to 27mm from the head tube face. Designed for head tubes using headsets with deep insertion cups (Chris King SteelSet headsets and others).

  • Usually frames need facing more than reaming. Reaming cleans and rounds the inside of your head tube. Facing makes sure that the top and bottom of your head tube is perfectly parallel.
  • The above mentioned pilots are used to keep the Park HTR-1 centered when only facing is desired. Any sized head tube may be faced with the HTR-1 regardless of what reamer size you have, 1 inch (30.0 mm), 1 1/8 inch (33.8 mm) or larger.
  • Note the black button, quick-release, quick-adjust feature on the Park HTR-1 tool. The blue, bottom portion can slide on and off easily. Unlike many other reamers there is no need to unthread the bottom portion. You may also fine tune the bottom portion while using the HTR-1.
  • For a silky smooth operation the centering cone rests on a heavy duty bearing assembly.
  • The Park HTR-1 is a professional quality tool that is easy to use and will last a lifetime.
  • We suggest facing and reaming the top of your head tube first. Then flip your frame over and ream or face the bottom portion.
  • A 30.0 mm reamer is included with HTR-1. Use it for headset cups with 30.2 outside diameter, common on one-inch steering column bikes.
  • You may request a Park HTR-1B in which Park substitutes a 33.8mm reamer for the 30.0 mm reamer. The 33.8 mm reamer is for headset cups of 34.0mm, common on 1-1/8 inch steering column bikes.
  • The most common reason for reaming is to convert a one-inch "JIS" frame to the so-called "Euro" standard, which is best accomplished by the HTR-1 with the 30.0 mm reamer.
  • Reamers and cutters may be purchased separately. Both may also be resharpened by a professional tool cutting service.

Branford Bike Online Catalog - Archival Edition
brought to you by the former owner of Branford Bike, Tim Brockett via his personal web site, TimsLife.Com
This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Read the story here.

Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love. I hope you enjoy browsing through the archival catalog. If your visit brings back pleasant memories please share them with me via e-mail at timbrockett@gmail.com .

If you find any printed Branford Bike catalogs, advertisments or flyers please scan them as a PDF and email. Or you may mail them via US Post to Tim Brockett, PO Box 1711, Emigrant, MT 59027. Eventually I will post them in a Memorabilia catalog section.

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
Tim Brockett
