Campagnolo Bar End Shift Levers:

Campagnolo Bar End shifters fit inside the ends of your handlebars. Bar End shifters allow you to shift quickly and easily while maintaining 100% control over your bicycle. Ideal for shifting under difficult riding situations or rough roads. Widely used for Triathlon and touring bicycles.
Campagnolo Bar End shifters are currently only available in a 10 speed model. 8 and 9 speed models are no longer available. Campagnolo never produced a 9 speed model for use with 2001 to current 9 speed rear derailleurs. If you find a used 9 speed Campagnolo bar end shifter be sure to use it with a Campagnolo pre-2001 9 speed, or converted 8 speed, rear derailleur.
Campagnolo Bar End shifters may be easily converted to Campagnolo 10 speed down tube mounted shifters with a Le Tour Down Tube conversion kit.
The shift levers are heat treated aluminum alloy. The finger shift lever has a comfortable rubber hood for a non-slip grip.
Hardened steel springs and alloy hardware are carefully machined and then heat treated for greater durability.
The weight of a Bar End Shifter set without cables is just 163 grams.
Adjustable, downtube cable stops are included. A derailleur cable kit with black housing, two derailleur wires and a few cable end caps come with the Bar End shifters. Cable crimps are NOT included.
We suggest purchasing a bag of Le Tour Cable Crimps and and a few Le Tour 5mm Cable End Caps as Campy does not include enough with their cable kit.
Want housing in bright colors? Use Le Tour Brake and Derailleur housing. Le Tour fits Campagnolo Bar End levers perfectly, works flawlessly and adds beauty to any bike.
You can expect to get 10,000 to 15,000 miles from the right lever and 20,000 to 30,000 miles from the left lever before they will need rebuilding.

For longest life and smoothest shifting we recommend using Le Tour Whisper White grease with the Le Tour Grease Gun to lubricate Campagnolo Bar End shift levers. Do NOT use chain lube to lubricate Bar End levers.
The left side shifter is racheted so it works with double or triple chainring cranks and all Campagnolo front derailleurs. It even works with most Shimano front derailleurs. The right shifter is indexed and only works with Campagnolo 10 speed rear derailleurs.

We suggest using a Park Torque Wrench, for the most accurate installation. Campagnolo recommends the following torque specifications:
Handlebar Expansion Wedge - tighten to 10.0 Newton Meters (N.m) or 7.38 foot pounds.

Campagnolo Down Tube Shifters:

Campagnolo no longer makes down tube shifters but Campagnolo Bar End shifters may be easily converted with a Le Tour Down Tube conversion kit.
The Le Tour Bar End to Down Tube conversion kit contains the parts you need to convert any 1996 or later, Campagnolo 8, 9 or 10 speed Bar End shifter set, to a Campagnolo down tube shifter set as pictured above.
Comes with an exploded parts diagram and easy to follow instructions. Allow 30 minutes for assembly and installation.
Converts one right and one left bar end shifter to one right and one left down tube shifter. The number of gears on your bar end shifter will equal the number of gears on your down tube shifter. You may always upgrade your 8 or 9 speed shifter to 10 speed by installing a new Index Gear and three G springs as detailed above.

This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love.
