The BT-5 can be used on many different parts of brakes -- against the shoe holder, mounting bolt, etc., whatever is more convenient. Cable and Housing Cutters:

The Park CN-10 is designed to cleanly cut both cables and housing with a smooth, scissors like action. The CN-10 is exceptionally durable; it easily withstands daily shop use for many years. The Park CN-10 is a shop quality cutter designed specifically for use on all bicycle cables and housing, including hard-to-cut index housing. The CN-10 has cold forged, heat-treated steel handles for strength and precision ground cutting jaws for a clean cut on every cable. Dual density molded grips are specially contoured for superior comfort and control. The Park CN-10 has a built in crimper for cable end caps and a forming hole for reforming housing ends and housing ferrules. A wire latch holds the handles together when not in use.
Keep away from other people and always wear safety glasses when using any cable or housing cutter. Cable and housing ends are sharp and often fly a few feet (1 meter) when cut. Cable and housing pieces can easily damage your eyes or someone elses. Left on the floor or in the carpet they are a hazard to small children, bare feet and have even been known to flatten bicycle tires. Please use extra caution when cutting and be sure to pick up scrap pieces of cables and housings.

Brake Centering and Adjustment Wrenches:

The Park OBW-1 easily fits on the slots of your older, sidepull, brake centerbolt. Simply twist this wrench to center your brake caliper. Squeeze your brake lever a few times and then check to see if both the right and left brake shoes are the same distance from your rim. The 10 and 13 mm slots fit Campagnolo, Shimano and most other sidepull brake calipers. Will not work on Dual Pivot type brake calipers.
The Park AWS-1 three way hex wrench pictured below is the ideal tool for brake, derailleur and chain ring allen bolts. The hardened steel 4, 5 and 6 mm tips are precisely machined and will snugly fit any quality allen bolt. The arms are cushioned and just the right length to tighten bolts securely. Light and small enough to fit in a jersey pocket or a small seat bag.

Toe In Adjustment Tool:

The Park BT-3 Brake Toe-In-Tool is used for aligning caliper brake pads in relation to the rim. Brake pads that are perfectly parallel to the rim will often squeal. The BT-3 allows pads to be easily "toed-inward." Simply place this tool on the flats of your caliper arms and gently twist. Ideally you want the foremost part of your brake pad to contact the rim first. This will cause your brake caliper arms to twist slightly and allows the rest of your pads to contact your rim.
Campagnolo uses orbital adjustment bolts on all of their newer brake pads so toe-in can be set without bending the brake caliper arms.

This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love.
