Campagnolo Record

Record Brake Housing

Campagnolo Record Brake Cables and Housing:
  • Campagnolo Record brake cable housing comes in gray only. We are no longer able to get black housing except in full Ergo Cable kits. Pearl white was discontinued and is no longer available.
  • The front brake housing is 26 inches (66 cm) long. The rear brake housing is 49 inches (125 cm) in length.
  • Four, 5mm inside diameter, chromed brake housing end caps are included.
  • All Campagnolo housings have an internal liner to reduce cable friction.
  • These housings are designed for use with brakes only. Shifting systems require a different type of housing that is non-compressable.
  • These cables and housings will fit all Campagnolo current and older brake levers, calipers and Ergo Power levers.
  • Campagnolo brake housings come as a set of two with Campagnolo stainless steel front and rear brake cables.
  • Complete Ergo cable and housing sets come with two brake wires, two derailleur wires, two black brake housings and three black derailleur/shifter housings.
  • Campagnolo brake cables are 1.6 mm in diameter. Derailleur wires are 1.2 mm in diameter and 78 inches (2000 mm) long. Both are constructed from double wound stainless steel wire for maximum strength, performance and durability.
The rear brake cable is 62 inches (160 cm) long and available separately.
  • Use a scissors action cable cutter like the Park CN-10 to trim Campagnolo cables and housing to the proper length for your bicycle. Diagonal cutters can mash the cable and cause it to fray.
  • For longest life and smoothest shifting we recommend using Pro Link Cable Lube on these premium cables.
  • Visit our Cable Cutting Tips page to see how professional mechanics install cables and housing.
  • Made in Italy by Campagnolo and backed with a three year warranty.
  • Warranty service and help with technical questions is available from Camapgnolo USA in Carlsbad, California USA. Call Campagnolo USA at (760) 931-0106, email them at Info@CampagnoloUSA.com or visit them at Campagnolo.com by clicking on the underlined text .

Le Tour Brake and Shift Housing. How they differ...
Le Tour Brake Housing
Le Tour Brake housing, as pictured above, consists of three, carefully constructed layers. The outermost layer is a thick, tough and fade resistant vinyl. The next layer is a flat steel band that is wrapped spirally around a Teflon, 1.6 mm, inner tube. The single strand, steel band allows for smooth and even housing bends. The Teflon liner reduces cable friction to a minimum which makes braking smoother, faster and easier to control.
Other brands use the same type of construction but not all of them employ a genuine Teflon liner.
Le Tour Shift Housing
Le Tour Derailleur housing, as pictured above, consists of three, carefully constructed layers also. The outermost layer is a thick, tough and fade resistant vinyl. The next layer is a series of hardened steel wires that are laid parallel to and surround, a 1.2 mm Teflon inner tube. The hardened steel wires create a non-compressible type of housing that is required for proper operation of all indexed shifting systems. The Teflon liner reduces cable friction to a minimum which makes shifting smoother, faster and crisper.
Other brands use the same type of construction but not all of them employ a genuine Teflon liner.

Le Tour Cables and Housing

Le Tour Gray and Silver Housing Le Tour Red, Yellow and Blue Housing Le Tour Black and White Housing

Le Tour Professional Brake and Derailleur Housing:
  • Le Tour Professional housing comes in a wide selection of colors to compliment your bicycle. Choose from: Shimano Gray, Pearlescent Silver, Royal Blue, Lemon Yellow, Fire Engine Red, Bright White or Gloss Black. The Shimano Gray color perfectly matches original Dura-Ace and XTR housing. Gloss Black matches Campagnolo black housing.
  • Le Tour Professional brake housing comes in a single 80 inch (203 cm) extra long section. Simply cut to the lengths you need and never worry about not having enough. Four, chromed steel, 5 mm housing end caps are included.
  • Le Tour Professional brake housing is also available in a 160 inch (406 cm) tandem length.
  • Le Tour Professional brake housing is carefully constructed in three separate layers. A Tefon liner is wrapped in spirally, flat wound steel and then encased with a tough, richly colored, fade resistant vinyl cover.
  • You may use Le Tour Brake Housing with Campagnolo, Shimano or any 1.6 mm or smaller, brake cable.
Shifting systems require a different type of housing that is non-compressible.
You may use Le Tour Derailleur Housing with Campagnolo, Shimano or any 1.2 mm or smaller, derailleur cable.
  • Le Tour 5 mm, shifter and derailleur housing, comes in a single 60 inch (153 cm) extra long section. Simply cut to the lengths you need and never worry about not having enough. Most applications require two 55 cm (22 inch) handlebar housings and one 25 cm (10 inch) rear derailleur housing. Six, chromed steel, 5 mm housing end caps are included.

What do I need...
to overhaul my bicycle brake and derailleur system? You will need:
  • One 80 Inch piece of Le Tour Brake Cable Housing.
  • One 60 inch (153 cm) piece of Le Tour Derailleur Cable Housing.
  • Two Le Tour Professional Brake Cables, 67 inches long
  • Two Le Tour Professional Derailleur Cables, 78 inches long.

Le Tour Brake Cable Le Tour Brake Cable Ends

Le Tour Professional Brake and Derailleur Cables:
  • Le Tour Professional cables and housings will fit all Campagnolo and Shimano current and older road brake and shift levers, road calipers and Ergo Power or STI levers. Le Tour Professional cables are double ended and will also fit MTB brake and shift levers. Le Tour cables are often used as accelerator cables for cars, motorcycles and other motorized applications.
  • Le Tour Professional brake cables are 1.6 mm in diameter and 67 inches (170 cm) long. They are constructed from 19 strands and three layers of stainless steel wire for maximum strength, performance and durability.
  • Le Tour Professional brake cables also come in a 108 inch (275 cm) tandem length.
  • Le Tour Professional derailleur cables are 1.2 mm in diameter and 78 (200 cm) or 120 inches (300 cm) long. They are constructed from 19 strands and three layers of stainless steel wire for maximum strength, performance and durability.
  • Each cable is pulled through a die to smooth the outer surface so the cable is almost perfectly round. You can see how smooth the cable surface is in the cable ends close up photo below. Rounder cables produce less friction and will give you silky smooth braking and shifting.
  • Every Le Tour cable is pre-stretched and tested before it leaves the factory. All you need to do is add a little cable lube and install.
  • For longest life and smoothest shifting we recommend using Pro Link Cable Lube on these premium cables.
  • Use a scissors action cable cutter like the Park CN-4C to trim Le Tour cables and housing to the proper length for your bicycle. Diagonal cutters can mash the cable and cause it to fray.
  • Visit our Cable Cutting Tips page to see how professional mechanics install cables and housing.

Branford Bike Online Catalog - Archival Edition
brought to you by the former owner of Branford Bike, Tim Brockett via his personal web site, TimsLife.Com
This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Read the story here.

Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love. I hope you enjoy browsing through the archival catalog. If your visit brings back pleasant memories please share them with me via e-mail at timbrockett@gmail.com .

If you find any printed Branford Bike catalogs, advertisments or flyers please scan them as a PDF and email. Or you may mail them via US Post to Tim Brockett, PO Box 1711, Emigrant, MT 59027. Eventually I will post them in a Memorabilia catalog section.

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
Tim Brockett
