Campagnolo Record

Record Rear Differential Caliper Record Front Caliper
Record Black Calipers

Campagnolo Record Brake Calipers:
  • In 2001 Campagnolo redesigned the rear brake caliper. They eliminated one pivot, redesigned the arms and reduced the weight by 11% or 40 grams. We found the new Differential rear brake to stop just as quickly as a Dual Pivot model. The braking action was slightly more responsive due to the lower weight of the Differential brake caliper. The front brake is unchanged and remains a dual pivot caliper.
  • Campagnolo brakes are precisely machined and beautifully finished.
  • Heat treated steel springs and hardware are carefully machined and then nickel chrome plated for greater durability.
  • Ten, tiny stainless steel ball bearings at each pivot point, provide silky smooth braking.
  • Titanium and aluminum alloy hardware reduces weight while maintaining strength and increasing corrosion resistance.
  • Just like Campagnolo crank arms, both aluminum alloy brake arms are cold forged for maximum stiffness and strength.
  • Campagnolo Record brake pads are the same as used for the year 2000 brakes. They are slightly longer than older Record and Chorus Dual Pivot pads and curved to fit your rims. An orbital washer/bolt assembly allows for simple brake pad toe in adjustments.
  • Campagnolo brake pads will last up to 5,000 miles if you keep them clean and properly adjusted. The rubber brake pad and alloy holder are separate units. Pad replacement is quick and simple.
  • The weight of a Record Differential rear caliper is just 160 grams. The Record front dual pivot caliper tips the scales at only 180 grams.
  • These brake calipers will fit all frames and forks designed for use with a recessed allen head, brake center bolt assembly. The reach on these brakes is adjustable from 39 to 50 mm.
  • Genuine Campagnolo replacement parts, cables and brake pads are available below.
  • The parts machined from titanium are:
eight brake pad nuts, two brake centerbolt 5 mm allen head fixing nuts and the both cable anchor bolt assemblies. The cable barrel adjusters, barrel nuts and several collars and nuts are machined from hardened aluminum alloy.
  • Only available as a set of two; a rear differential brake caliper and a front dual pivot brake caliper. Cables are NOT included.
  • We suggest using a Park Torque Wrench, for the most accurate installation. Campagnolo recommends the following torque specifications:
Brake Caliper Fixing Bolt (holds the caliper on your fork or rear bridge) - tighten to 10.0 Newton Meters (N.m) or 7.38 foot pounds.
Brake Pad Fixing Bolt - tighten to 8.0 Newton Meters (N.m) or 5.9 foot pounds.
Cable Clamp Bolt - tighten to 5.0 Newton Meters (N.m) or 3.69 foot pounds.
  • Made in Italy by Campagnolo and backed with a three year warranty.
  • Warranty service and help with technical questions is available from Camapgnolo USA in Carlsbad, California USA. Call Campagnolo USA at (760) 931-0106, email them at Info@CampagnoloUSA.com or visit them at Campagnolo.com by clicking on the underlined text .

Campagnolo Chorus Brake Calipers:

  • The weight of a Chorus Differential rear caliper is just 170 grams. The Chorus front dual pivot caliper tips the scales at only 190 grams. Neither uses any titanium nuts or bolts.
  • These brake calipers will fit all frames and forks designed for use with a recessed allen head, brake center bolt assembly. The reach on these brakes is adjustable from 39 to 50 mm.

Compare: Record vs. Chorus Calipers
  • Record calipers have spring tension adjusters, ball bearings in the front caliper and a beefier pivot assembly than Chorus calipers.
  • Record calipers use titanium and aluminum alloy bolts, nuts and collars. Chorus calipers use chromed steel components to keep the cost down.
  • Record calipers are lighter and quicker acting than Chorus calipers.
  • Chorus calipers now use the same pads and arms as Record. They work well and are reasonably priced.

Branford Bike Online Catalog - Archival Edition
brought to you by the former owner of Branford Bike, Tim Brockett via his personal web site, TimsLife.Com
This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Read the story here.

Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love. I hope you enjoy browsing through the archival catalog. If your visit brings back pleasant memories please share them with me via e-mail at timbrockett@gmail.com .

If you find any printed Branford Bike catalogs, advertisments or flyers please scan them as a PDF and email. Or you may mail them via US Post to Tim Brockett, PO Box 1711, Emigrant, MT 59027. Eventually I will post them in a Memorabilia catalog section.

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
Tim Brockett
