Campagnolo Quick Release Skewers

Campagnolo Record, Chorus and Centaur use a 5mm stainless steel shaft and a polishes, chrome steel handle.
Record quick release skewers have a cut out chromed steel handle and lightweight alloy end caps with "D" rings.
Chorus quick release skewers lack the Record style cut out chromed steel handle but have the lightweight alloy end caps.
Centaur skewers have one end cap in chromed steel. The adjustable side is nylon covered, steel end cap.
A Record rear skewer weighs just 68 grams. A Chorus rear skewer tips the scales at 66 grams while a Centaur weighs in at just 76 grams.
A Record front skewer weighs just 64 grams. A Chorus front skewer tips the scales at 60 grams while a Centaur weighs in at just 72 grams.
Record, Chorus and Centaur rear skewers fit rear hubs that have an inside dropout face to inside dropout face width of 130mm. They will work fine with 7, 8, 9 and 10 speed drivetrains.
Record, Chorus and Centaur front skewers fit front hubs have an inside fork tip to inside for tip measurement of 100mm.

We suggest using Le Tour Chain Lube for lubricating the lever and "D" ring pivot points on Campagnolo quick release skewers.

Zipp Quick Release Skewers

Zipp use a 5mm titanium shafts, stainless steel springs and black anodized end caps and handles. Zipp is beautifully laser etched into each quick release handle.
Zipp titanium skewers are only available as a set of two; one front and one rear.
A set of Zipp titanium skewers weighs just 85 grams. They fit Campagnolo, Shimano and most other brands of road hubs. They are 100% compatible with 7, 8, 9 and 10 speed drive trains.
Zipp rear skewers fit rear hubs that have an inside dropout face to inside dropout face width of 130mm. They will work fine with 7, 8, 9 and 10 speed drivetrains.

This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love.
