Campagnolo C-10 and C-9 Chains

  • Record Ultra Drive (UD) chains work perfectly with older EXA Drive and current Ultra Drive cassettes. You may use them with older 9 speed and newer 9 and 10 speed rear derailleurs with out a problem. Of course you must use a C-9 chain with a 9 speed system and a C-10 chain with a 10 speed system.
  • Click on the above photo to see how precisely Campagnolo bevels and shapes their chain plates.
  • Campagnolo Record UD C-9 and C-10 chains have a nickel plated and Teflon impregnated finish for smoother shifting and longer wear. C-10 Ultra chains have hollow rivets and drilled outer plates to reduce weight. For longest life and smoothest shifting we recommend using Le Tour Chain Lube on these premium chains.
  • Campagnolo 9 speed chains are specifically designed for their 9 speed rear derailleurs and 9 speed cassettes.
If you are using a Campy nine speed rear derailleur, which has narrower pulley wheels than a Campy eight speed rear derailleur, and a Campy 8 speed cassette, then use a Campagnolo nine speed chain.
If you are using a Campy eight speed rear derailleur and a Campy eight speed cassette then use the wider, Rohloff eight speed chain.
If you are switching wheels between nine speed Campagnolo and nine speed Shimano, then use a Rohloff nine speed road chain. It meshes best with both Campy and Shimano rear derailleurs and cassettes.

  • Campagnolo C-10 ten speed chains employ a single use hollow rivet. One comes with each chain as pictured above.
The outer link plate with a zip tie and blue tape has a tiny C-2 stamped on it just above the right rivet. The 2 represents a batch number and will vary as more chains are produced. The C-2 tells you that this is the only plate that can accept the silver hollow, single use, rivet pictured underneath it. The cone shaped black rod next to the silver rivet guides the rivet into the chain and then slips off.
  • Extra rivets and chain link sections are pictured above and listed below. Use the Campy UT-CN20010 speed chain tool, to install Campagnolo hollow chain rivets.
You may also use the Super Link III instead of the older, Campagnolo Perma-Link or current hollow rivet to join your chain. No tools are required to install the Super Link III. It fastens securely, and can be opened and closed many times. The Super Link III lasts about 1,500 to 2,500 miles. We suggest getting two with a new Campy 10 speed chain. A handy wear guide and instructions are included.
  • You may use a Park chain tool to add or remove links normally, on a Campagnolo 8 or 9 speed chain. You may use a Park chain tool to remove links on a C-10 chain. For maximum safety we suggest using the Campagnolo UT-CN200 chain tool to add links or install the one-use hollow rivet.
  • Made in Italy by Campagnolo and backed with a three year warranty.

Rohloff SLT 99 Chains

Rohloff is currently not shipping chains to the United States and our supplier has discontinued them. Unfortunately we can no longer get their chains. If that situation changes we will post them here, again.
See the price boxes below for suggested substitutions.

  • Rohloff made the first Campagnolo 8 speed chain in their small German workshop.
  • Rohloff's SLT 99 line of fine chains now includes 8 and 9 speed models for road, BMX or mountain biking.
  • Rohloff case hardens and nickel plates every link for exceptional durability and performance.
  • Rohloff's 8 speed chain works beautifully with Shimano or Campagnolo 8 speed drivetrains.
Their 9 speed chain shifts flawlessly with Campagnolo or Shimano 9 speed drivetrains.
  • For longest life and smoothest shifting we recommend using Le Tour Chain Lube on these premium chains.
  • If you are switching wheels between 9 speed Campagnolo and 9 speed Shimano, a Rohloff 9 speed road chain is an ideal choice.
  • The 8 and 9 speed MTB chains are compatible with Shimano HG or IG drivetrain components. They are identical to the road chains except the rivets are peened twice for extra strength.
  • The Trials chain is a heavy duty road, BMX or mountain 8 speed chain. The side plates and pins are thoroughly hardened for longer wear. The rivets are peened three times for maximum strength.
  • Rohloff chains are easy to assemble and do not require special links or pins. A standard Park chain tool works fine.
  • Rohloff SLT 99 chains are still meticulously machined in the same small German workshop discovered by Campagnolo in their search for the world's finest 8 speed chain.
  • Warranty service and help with technical questions is available from Rohloff USA in El Cerrito, California USA. Call Rohloff USA at (510) 232-4833, email them at USA@Rohloff.de or visit them at Rohloff.de by clicking on the underlined text .

Branford Bike Online Catalog - Archival Edition
brought to you by the former owner of Branford Bike, Tim Brockett via his personal web site, TimsLife.Com
This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Read the story here.

Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love. I hope you enjoy browsing through the archival catalog. If your visit brings back pleasant memories please share them with me via e-mail at timbrockett@gmail.com .

If you find any printed Branford Bike catalogs, advertisments or flyers please scan them as a PDF and email. Or you may mail them via US Post to Tim Brockett, PO Box 1711, Emigrant, MT 59027. Eventually I will post them in a Memorabilia catalog section.

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
Tim Brockett
