Chain Installation Tools

Campagnolo UT-CN200 Tool for 10 Speed C-10 HD-L Chains
Campy UT-CN200 Chain Tool

Chain Installation Tools:
  • Use the Campagnolo UT-CN200 Chain Tool for installing the hollow rivet that comes with Campagnolo C-10 HD-L 10 speed chains. Comes with a replacement pin.
The looped wire slides over the chain links and prevents them from moving or deforming when you are installing a new hollow rivet. The extra long handle is easy to turn. For maximum safety we suggest following the C-10 HD-L chain rivet installation instructions closely. Only works with Campagnolo 10 speed chains; will not fit 9 speed chains.
  • Use a Park chain tool for Campagnolo 8 and 9 speed chains or all SRAM and Shimano chains.
  • Extra pins are available and listed below for the Campagnolo chain tool.

Park Chain Installation Tools

Park CT - 2 Plier Chain Tool
Park Pliers CT-2 Chain Tool
Park CT - 3 Pro Chain Tool
Park CT-3 Pro Chain Tool

Park Chain Installation Tools:
  • Use the Park CT-2, CT-3 and CT-5 Chain Tools for any road or mountain bike 7, 8 or 9 speed chain. Fits Campagnolo, Rohloff, Shimano and SRAM chains.
  • Use the Park CT-7, BMX/Track Chain Tool for any BMX or Track bike single speed chain. Fits 1/8 inch and 3/16 inch pitch chains.
  • All road chains made to fit derailleur style bicycles use 3/32 inch pitch chains. Although the OVERALL width of a derailleur style chain will vary with the number of gears in the rear, the pitch remains constant at 3/32 of an inch. Pitch represents the width of a chain at its narrowest point; inside the two innermost link plates. Pitch also represents the width of the cassette or chain ring teeth that the chain must slip over. BMX and track bikes often use wider chainrings and rear cogs. Hence they require a wider, 1/8 inch pitch, chain.
  • Extra pins are available and listed below for the Park chain tools.

Chain Wear and Alignment Tools

Park CC-3 Chain Wear Indicator
Park CC-3 Tool
Park CC-2 Chain Wear Indicator
Park CC-2 Tool
Chain Wear and Alignment Tools:
  • Use the Park Chain Wear Indicator tools to measure the amount of "stretch" in your chain. Both tools fit all road or mountain bike 7, 8, 9 or 10 speed chains. They are easy to use, give precise readings and will allow you to get the maximum life from your chain.
  • The Park CC-3 is a "Go, No-Go" gauge designed to accurately indicate when a chain reaches 0.75% and 1% wear, the point at which most chain manufacturers suggest replacement. If the 0.75% side fits into the chain, the chain is worn to 3/4 of 1% and should be replaced soon. If the 1% side fits into the chain, the chain is worn out and should be replaced immediately. The Park CC-3 is carefully constructed from precision, laser cut steel.
  • The Park CC-2 chain wear tool has gradational marks that allow you to see precisely how much your chain has worn. It is easier to judge the rate of wear with the CC-2 and then decide how many more miles you have left on your chain.
  • Chain wear is often perceived as "stretch". Chains do not stretch; they only appear to do that. The tiny rollers and the rivets they rest upon gradually grind away at each other. Over time the distance between any two rollers increases and the chain no longer meshes snugly with your cassette or chainrings. A badly worn chain will jump forward when pressure is applied. It is actually slipping over your cassette teeth becase the fit is loose.
  • The Park CGL-2 Chainline gauge is essential for diagnosing shifting problems. The ideal chain line on a bicycle with two chain rings and a straight block 12-19, 8 speed cassette, is as follows:
If you took one end of the Park CLG-2 tool and placed it on the inside flange of your outer chainring the other end would rest exactly in the center of your rear cassette. On a 12-13-14-15 - 16-17-18-19, 8 speed cassette the chromed, straight edge would fall between the 15 and 16 tooth cogs if your chainline was perfect. On a 9 speed cassette the straight edge would rest on the centermost cog.
  • The Park CLG-2 chainline tool is precise and easy to use. It also comes with detailed instructions.

Branford Bike Online Catalog - Archival Edition
brought to you by the former owner of Branford Bike, Tim Brockett via his personal web site, TimsLife.Com
This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Read the story here.

Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love. I hope you enjoy browsing through the archival catalog. If your visit brings back pleasant memories please share them with me via e-mail at timbrockett@gmail.com .

If you find any printed Branford Bike catalogs, advertisments or flyers please scan them as a PDF and email. Or you may mail them via US Post to Tim Brockett, PO Box 1711, Emigrant, MT 59027. Eventually I will post them in a Memorabilia catalog section.

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
Tim Brockett
