Tour of Flanders

Flanders 2000

  • Naturalized Belgian Andrei Tchmil proves he is a true Flandrian with his first ever victory in "De Ronde," Belgium's biggest race. Andrei makes a solo break away in the final miles. He barely hangs on and is almost overtaken by a strong lead group including his old rival Johan Museeuw who are looking for a record-breaking fourth victory over the legendary cobbled Monts of Geraardsbergen, Kwaremont and the Bosberg. There are fine attacks from last year's winner Peter Van Petegem and a sterling performance by near-veteran Jesper Skibby, but the victory goes to Tchmil! It is the finest victory of his 37 years. "For the last four kilometers I kept thinking they would catch me" he said later. "I could feel every pedal stroke. It wasn't until 100 meters from the line that I knew that I won." It was that close. Commentary by Phil Liggett & Paul Sherwen.

Paris-Roubaix

Paris-Roubaix 2000

  • Another thrilling Museeuw moment as the former world champion makes the bravest move of his career 37 kilometers from the finish of the 2000 Paris-Roubaix. He hangs on by a slender margin despite a furious chase from Erik Zabel, Peter Van Petegem and Franco Ballerini in the final kilometers. Johan Museeuw proves that he is still the king of the Classics, in spite of his serious knee injury in 1998 which almost cost him his leg and his career. This stunning victory completes one of the greatest comebacks of recent years, underlined when Museeuw points at his leg as he crosses the finish line in the legendary velodrome.
US Postal put in their best ever Classic performance, with Frankie Andreu creating the winning break with Museeuw, and George Hincapie oh-so-unlucky on a day when he is in super form. George's spirited attack to split the peloton by chasing Museeuw in the final kilometers is a moment to treasure for any US fan. You will not want to miss it! Commentary by Phil Liggett & Paul Sherwen.

Liege-Bastogne-Liege & Fleche Wallonne

Liege, etc 2000

  • Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Fleche Wallonne go Italian again, with Francesco Casagrande crushing the opposition on the legendary "Wall" of Huy in Fleche. Razor-sharp youngster Paolo Bettini, domestique to the absent double winner Michele Bartoli, outwits the two Davids, Rebellin of Italy and Extebarria of Spain, for the biggest win of his career in Liège. Chris Boardman gets in on the Fleche action with a 175 Kilometer break which lasts to the penultimate hill. American Bobby Julich is out front for most of the time from Liège to Bastogne and back. Casagrande's late winning attack in Fleche is one of the most incisive pieces of bike racing you may experience this year. The tactical battle between Rebellin, Extebarria and Bettini in the final Kilometers of Liege is pure poker. Axel Merckx, son of Eddy Merckx, gains on the trio at lightning speed as his team mate Bettini watches and waits. Commentary by Phil Liggett & Paul Sherwen.

Branford Bike Online Catalog - Archival Edition
brought to you by the former owner of Branford Bike, Tim Brockett via his personal web site, TimsLife.Com
This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Read the story here.

Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love. I hope you enjoy browsing through the archival catalog. If your visit brings back pleasant memories please share them with me via e-mail at timbrockett@gmail.com .

If you find any printed Branford Bike catalogs, advertisments or flyers please scan them as a PDF and email. Or you may mail them via US Post to Tim Brockett, PO Box 1711, Emigrant, MT 59027. Eventually I will post them in a Memorabilia catalog section.

Many Thanks and Best Wishes,
Tim Brockett
