A built-in walking test (Self Walk Test™) will tell you how fit you are and help you set up your exercise program. The ZonePointer™ will keep you in your target zone. A calorie counter will help you manage your weight loss program by letting you know how many calories you burned. The Polar A5 also tells you how efficient your workout was by tracking the time you exercised in your heart rate zone.
Just like the Polar F1 and A3, the Polar A5 remembers your average heart rate and elapsed exercise time at the end of your workout session so you can track your fitness improvements.

• The Polar A5 is a personal fitness manager. A built in and easy to use Self Walk Test™ will tell you how fit you are and help you set up and maintain your exercise program .
• A calorie counter counts total calories burned to help you effectively manage your weight loss program.
• The Polar A5 will automatically calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) in pounds/inches or kg/cm units. BMI is a ratio of body weight to height and is a good indicator of body fat. You may use the BMI numbers to check on your progress and set goals.
• The slim, LCD screen display depicts current heart rate in .31 inch (.8 cm) tall, bold numbers.
• An audible alarm can be activated that will tell you when you go below or above your heart zone settings. We recommend staying within your heart zone settings to get the best workout.
• The upper portion of the LCD display can also display a bar graph, that shows at a glance, how long you have been exercising. Each # represents 10 minutes. The photo above shows a 40 minute fitness session.
• You may also set the upper portion of the LCD display to show your lower and upper heart rate zone limits as depicted in the Polar A3 photo.
• The bottom two thirds of the LCD heart rate display can be set to beats per minute or heart rate as a percentage of your maximum heart rate. The above photo shows heart rate as 78% of the maximum heart rate. This person is getting a good workout.
• The Polar A5 also has a full function watch display that shows:
  time of day in 12 or 24 hour modes, day of the week, date and an audible alarm.
  To switch between the heart and time displays while exercising, simply move the monitor up to your chest transmitter.
• The monitor head uses a standard, CR 2032 watch battery, that is easy to replace by a jeweler or electronic technician. The battery usually lasts for two years.
• The LCD display lights up at the touch of a button. Ideal for night exercise. The light automatically shuts off after 5 seconds to conserve battery power.

• The soft, no-slip watch band fits wrists from 5.4 inches (14 cm) to 7.9 inches (20 cm) in circumference.
• Your average heart rate, time spent exercising, time spent in your heart rate zone and calories burned are saved for the last session. Body Mass Index and the Self Walk Test™ are also saved. Use these numbers to compare sessions and chart your fitness progress.
• The sealed, lightweight and slim, chest transmitter is comfortable to wear and never requires maintenance. The soft, brushed polyester elastic strap will fit chests from 25 to 51 inches (53 to 130 cm).
