Convert Campy 8 Speed hubs to Shimano 8 Speed

The Wheels Manufacturing Shi-CA8 spacing kit will allow you to convert a Campagnolo steel 8 speed cassette to a Shimano 8 speed cassette.
Your new, 8 speed cassette, will shift well with all Shimano 8 speed rear derailleurs and Shimano 8 speed shifters. You may NOT mix Campagnolo shifters with Shimano derailleurs or Shimano shifters with Campagnolo derailleurs.
You do not need to change the freehub, or as it is sometimes called, the cassette body for this kit to work.
This kit comes with 6 aluminum alloy spacers.
For best shifting use a Rohloff 8 speed chain.
The Shi-CA8 kit is widely used on Phil Wood, Zipp, Mavic and other hubs that have non-upgradeable cassette bodies designed for use with Campagnolo 8 speed cassettes.

Steel 8 Speed Freehub Steel 8 Speed Cog

The Shi-CA8 kit will fit all Campagnolo compatible 8 speed hubs with steel freehub bodies as pictured above. Note how the 8 splines are only 1/8 of an inch ( 3.2 mm) deep. The Shift 5 cassette spacing kit will NOT fit Campy Record 8 speed alloy freehub bodies that came with all titanium cog cassettes.

This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love.
