Tools for Campagnolo Bottom Brackets
 
Tools for installation:
  • Campagnolo Record, Chorus, older Athena and Racing Triple bottom brackets use a splined tool to install or remove their cups.
  • Park manufactures an excellent quality splined Campy bottom bracket tool. It fits Campagnolo Record or Chorus bottom bracket cups and all Campagnolo 8, 9 and 10 speed cassette lockrings.
  • The Park Campy BB tool is nicely machined, finished in black and works well.
  • Campagnolo AC-H, AC-S and SC-S bottom brackets require a Park BBT-4 tool for installation. Note the alignment tabs on the BBT- 4 wrench that position and hold it perfectly on the bottom bracket cup..
  • The Park BBT-4 tool also fits Campagnolo Veloce, Centaur, Daytona, Mirage and Sachs bottom brackets.

  • Shimano Dura-Ace and XTR splined bottom brackets use a precise fitting, 5 notch, Park BBT-7 tool to install or remove their aluminum alloy lock rings.
  • All Shimano Dura-Ace, Ultegra and 105 splined bottom brackets use a Park BBT-2 tool to install or remove their cups.
  • Both Park Shimano BB tools are nicely machined, finished in black and work well.

Tools for Phil Wood Bottom Brackets
 
Phil Wood Ring tool
  • Rings easily install with a Phil Wood bottom bracket ring tool. Two tools are required for British or French threading; one for Italian threads. These rings use a unique spline pattern; no other brand of tool will fit.
    British threaded bottom brackets require two ring tools because one ring has a left hand thread while the other has a right hand thread. If you only use one ring tool, one cup will loosen while the opposite cup is tightened.
  • The Phil Wood ring mounting tool is machined from stainless steel and will last a lifetime.

Tools for Cup, Cone and Loose Ball Bearing Bottom Brackets
  • Campagnolo and most other loose ball bearing, bottom brackets require a Park HCW-4 and a Park HCW-12 tool for installation.
  • The Park HCW-4 is a combination 36 mm fixed cup and two pin adjustable cup tool. Pins are replaceable and also fit older Campagnolo BB pin tools.
  • The Park HCW-12 is a combination 32 mm headset nut and hooked lockring tool. It fits Campy and almost all other road, 1 inch headsets and bottom bracket lockrings.

This is an archival edition of the Branford Bike web site from February 2006. Complete with product photos, prices, how to articles and technical specifications it is a treasure trove of accurate, detailed and historical information.

In July of 2006 Branford Bike was incinerated by a huge forest fire. No one was hurt but the inventory and buildings were completely destroyed. I witnessed the fire and stayed until the trees were burning in my driveway. At that point I hiked from Branford Bike, through the smoke and embers, down the mountain to my Jeep 3 miles away. I took photos and wrote about the harrowing experience so everyone could see what I saw. My insurance was generous and I later rebuilt my home and started another business selling books. Branford Bike was a huge part of my life for over 30 years; June 1976 to July 2006. I enjoyed those years tremendously and Branford Bike was often a labor of love.
